The Shorecrest Board and Staff organized a meeting of all the Homeowners Associations (HOA) in the area that was held on October 15, 2022 at the Shorecrest Clubhouse. Shorecrest has organized this meeting in the past, but with Covid restrictions and other factors it has been awhile since we met. Our goal is to encourage the sharing of information between the various HOA’a so we can learn from each other and improve how we operate. Carolynne Brown reached out to 13 HOA’s and we had 35 people join us. Also joining us was
WESTERN SHOREFEST 2022 in the “WILD WILD WEST” was such a fun neighborhood party! We kicked off the event with a Kiddie parade of young cowboys and cowgirls wearing hats and riding pool noodle ponies that the activity group made. HOA President, Mike Jacobson led the group of cow pokes around the block with his trusty ATV pulling a wagon with the wooden calf he made. While the parade was going on, Cyndy Dyrnes was teaching a group of ladies a line dance. And then the party began. The band, “Go Johnny Go” featuring Shorecrest’s James Harlan, started playing and the dancers started dancing. The waterslide was set up for the adventuresome, the saloon for the thirsty and the chow line for the hungry.
It was a cool Memorial Day weekend, but after a rainy Saturday the pool opened on Sunday. The pool is heated, so we had lots of swimmers all day! Monday, Memorial Day, the activity committee hosted a Chili Cook off at the pool and clubhouse. Seven activity members made chili and invited Shorecrest residents to come sample and vote for their favorite chili. Everyone seemed to enjoy being a part of the voting process, many adding notes or rating the chili’s beyond voting for their overall favorite. Volunteers also made homemade cookies and brownies for the event. The winner of the Chili cook off was #1 “A little of this, a little of that” made by Jennifer Cunan. Congratulations Jenn on your win! A big thank you to those who made chili, cookies/brownies, and helped pull it all together!
