We had a very successful experience with our free neighborhood cleanup. We filled up 2 dumpsters, 2 trailers and 2 trucks within 3 hours on Saturday. We had 75 loads of trash unloaded. We ended up having to turn away some people after everything was filled up. Thanks to Craig, Elliot, Mike and Greg for helping people unload their vehicles.
Our Shorecrest friends and neighbors seemed to have enjoyed the return of our outdoor events this spring and summer. The pool parties were so fun with the weather perfect and Shorefest did not disappoint as we witnessed brave young souls slippin’ down the water slide. That is when they weren’t busy checking out our new playground equipment or beating those cute pinatas. Thank-you to the wonderful volunteers here in Shorecrest who donated so much time and energy to our activities. We have many talented neighbors
Our annual Shorefest is scheduled for Saturday August 21st. This year we are planning a Fiesta party with a full day of activities planned. There will be live music featuring local talent from our neighborhood and we will be serving delicious Mexican cuisine from 1 -4pm. Games for all ages will be set up including the return of our Giant 75 ft slip and slide and of course the pool will be open. Mark your calendars!! We hope to see all our Shorecrest friends and neighbors there!
For the most part the Spring clean-up was a great success. Sixty-seven loads of garbage and trash were brought to the clubhouse. There was more garbage than we had room for and by noon on Sunday both bins and both trailers had been filled. Unfortunately, later more garbage was not only left there, but the dumpster lids vandalized. If anyone has any information regarding this, please contact the office. This was very disappointing and hard to understand why some people feel the need to ruin a good thing for everyone.
DAHLIA PLANTING AT THE COMMUNITY GARDEN WITH SHORECREST KIDS
On Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 9-11am, we invite Shorecrest kids from 8-16 years of age to help plant dahlias in the Connie West Community Garden. Expect to learn from local gardeners about Dahlias, and how to plant them from local gardeners and then we will actually plant dahlias in the garden.
Wear clean gloves, a mask, and bring a trowel if you have one.
All participants will follow Washington State University Guidelines for Community Gardens distancing and wearing masks to keep safe and healthy!
